Vinegar is one of the most versatile and effective cleaning products, in addition to being completely natural and without side effects on our health. Few people know, however, that it is also effective for washing clothes, as it is able to eliminate bad odors and stains.

Vinegar has antibacterial properties and is an excellent disinfectant, so it can be used to remove stains caused by bacteria. It also has very effective bleaching properties on light colored clothing such as towels and underwear.

Being natural, safe and environmentally friendly, vinegar is a great alternative to chemical laundry products: below we explain how to use it to enjoy all its wonderful qualities.

1/ Vinegar to wash clothes and eliminate bad odors
If you want to use vinegar to wash your clothes, be sure to dilute it in a little warm water before using it. The combination of vinegar and water has disinfecting and bleaching properties. You can add a few drops of lemon or lavender essential oil for even more fragrant wipes.

You can also use vinegar to get rid of bad odors from towels. Pour a glass of vinegar in half a liter of water, add 20 drops of lavender essential oil and soak the towel in it. Finally, scrub well and rinse. Alternatively, you can wash the towels directly in the washing machine by adding 2 glasses of vinegar and using hot water.

2/ Vinegar to remove stains from clothes
To remove stains from clothes, apply vinegar directly to the stain and leave for a few minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

To bleach towels or clothes, mix vinegar and hot water in two equal parts. Let the vinegar stand for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water.

3/ Vinegar as a softener
White vinegar is an excellent substitute for industrial fabric softeners. It’s super easy to use and all you have to do is follow these simple steps.

Mix the white vinegar with water in two equal parts. Soak clothes for a few minutes (at least 20), then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

4/ Vinegar to Protect colors
Vinegar is very effective in protecting the colors of clothing, especially whites. Mix white vinegar with water in equal amounts. Apply the solution to your clothes and leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse.

In the case of whites, simply wash them by adding vinegar to the fabric softener basket.
