SW recipe: Amazing crunchy Cheesy chips

These Cheddar-topped fries will definitely leave you feeling chipper! And they’re Free if you have the cheese as one of your Healthy Extra ‘a’ choices..

Serves 4

Deduct 6 Syns if using Mature Cheddar Cheese as a Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice.

Ingredients

  • 1.2kg floury potatoes, such as Maris Piper or King Edward, cut into thick chips
  • Low-calorie cooking spray
  • 120g mature Cheddar, grated

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 240°C/fan 220°C/gas 9 and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Cook the chips in a pan of boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain well in a colander. While the chips are still in the colander, spray them with low-calorie cooking spray and toss until lightly coated.
  3. Scatter the chips over the baking tray in a single layer and season lightly. Bake for 20 minutes, then turn the chips, spray with more low-calorie cooking spray and return to the oven for a further 15-20 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  4. Divide the chips between 4 individual ovenproof dishes and sprinkle with the cheese. Return to the oven for a final 3-4 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Serve hot.
